PolyGuard 85 Low-VOC Clear
Surfacelogix® PolyGuard 85 Low-VOC Clear is an aliphatic, solvent-based, tinted polyaspartic system with 86% solids. Use the PolyGuard 85 Low-VOC Clear on its own or with full broadcast system coatings (pigmented and chip-embedded) for a durable, non-cracking, chemical- and tire mark-resistant finish with a glossy, “wet look” appearance. PolyGuard 85 Low-VOC Clear is ideal for use in garages, restaurants, service areas, and many other surfaces and can also be used on countertops, wood, and laminates. Its UV protection allows for outdoor applications without yellowing.
PolyGuard 85 Low-VOC Clear is available in two-quart and two-gallon kits. Each kit includes two containers: one of Part A and one of Part B. Coverage: 125-250 square feet per
gallon.
The complete PolyGuard 85 Low VOC system consists of a pigmented base coating and a clear, high-gloss topcoat sealer. Base and Clear kits are sold separately.

Directions
Preparation: Surfaces must be clean and free of any contaminants before application. PolyGuard 85 Low-VOC’s performance is directly related to how thoroughly the surface is prepared. New concrete should cure for at least 28 days before applying. When applying directly on old concrete or coated surfaces, all cracks should be eliminated, and existing coating should be removed to provide a proper surface profile. To remove existing coating, sand/grind the surface thoroughly with 60-grit sandpaper or diamonds. Test the product in an obscure area to ensure desired results for adhesion and finish. If humidity or moisture is suspected to be present in the concrete floor, a suitable moisture vapor barrier (MVB) must be applied. If a moisture vapor barrier is not in place, seasonal variations in ground moisture can cause excessive moisture vapor transmission (MVT), which can cause problems with the coating application. Recommended MVT rate for the PolyGuard 85 must not exceed 3 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft. per 24 hours. The relative humidity (RH) of the slab must not exceed 75%. If there is a moisture situation in excess of the above rate, the use of a MVB primer like Surfacelogix® Rapid Cure MVB is recommended.
Mixing: Parts A and B of PolyGuard 85 Low-VOC must only be mixed together using a ratio of 1:1. Pour parts A and B into a clean, dry container and mix with a drill gently, avoiding creating air bubbles, for 3 minutes.
Applications: Apply at a spread rate of 250–300 sq. ft. per gal. to yield 4-8 wet film thickness using a squeegee and back-roll with a non-shedding 3/8” nap roller. A second coat may be desired. The second coat can follow after approximately 1 hour of dry time, depending upon weather and sun exposure.
